Your Trusted Construction Partner
Our Journey
Building with Purpose
Every company has a story—and ours begins in 1980 with the name Builders Guild. Our founder, Bob Carter, chose this name to reflect the tradition of a “guild”: an association of craftsmen committed to mutual support, protection, and the advancement of their profession. From the very beginning, we set out to be more than just a contractor. With each project, we bring a team of Construction Professionals committed to successful project delivery.
Along the way, we’ve grown, adapted, and learned—always guided by our people, our partners, and our promise to deliver quality without compromise. Builders Guild is proud to be recognized as the preferred contractor for facility renovations and improvements in active, occupied spaces.

“Quality and craftsmanship go beyond nuts and bolts and took on a unique spin with this project. The solar thermal systems were installed within and on the roofs of Maricopa County’s Lower Buckeye Jail and 4th Avenue Jail. Access restrictions and Sheriff’s Office mandated working procedures were variables that would not have had to be considered in a ‘standard’ project. The construction team was able to take these ever-changing variables in stride to complete the project on time and within budget. The necessary quality standards were accomplished by the construction team through professionalism, experience and good leadership. Constructability improvements were identified early, accomplished quickly and, as a rule, a savings to the owner. Also, in a deliberate effort, the team took extraordinary actions to ensure that the end user groups had the needed documentation and operator training. This was the first solar thermal system installed with the jail system and the construction team’s efforts have gone far to instill user confidence on operating and maintain the system.”

“Fabiola and I were just discussing your teams performance on Phase 1 of the Wound Clinic project and what a bang up job you did. This was a small, but mission critical type project which you exceeded schedule expectations on and were good partners from the ignition. Fab and I received kudos from Boswell leadership and could not have been successful without your support and good work. Please share our appreciation with the rest of your team not on this email.”

“On behalf of the City of Phoenix, Aviation Department, Community Noise Reduction Program, Joe Giuliano Project Manager and our team would like to thank Builders Guild for the great job recently done on the demolition of Group 10 which consisted of nine City of Phoenix owned residential structures. Your Project Manager Gary Hannappel did an excellent job staying within budget and following the timeline. All notifications and permits we completed and received and the project ran smoothly from pre-construction through stabilization. We look forward to doing business with Builders Guild in the future. Thank you.”

“They [Builders Guild] did an exceptional job for us in a very limited amount of time. Both our Foreman and Project Manager were top notch, easy to work with and did a great job communicating with us as much as we needed them to. I’d highly recommend and have recommended Builders Guild for any project.”

“The Central Courts Elevator Modernization Project had the potential for many challenges, of which disturbing the Judges was my biggest concern. The deck was stacked against the contractor awarded this project with numerous other challenges that you would expect in a downtown Courts Facility with limited access, limited parking, strict security protocol, public safety, off-hours, a tired building and systems, no storage and etc. However, I was quickly convinced that I would be in good hands by the skill, in tegrity and dependability displayed by BGI. They seamless integrated into the Courts Building as if they were members of our Operations and Maintenance Team to modernize the elevators with only minor hiccups. I commend them for an excellent job and would highly recommend them for complicated work in a sensitive facility.”

Senior Project Manager Maricopa County Facilities Management
“Good Afternoon Gary, Thank you! You and your team have done an outstanding job on the Tempe Library spaces on the second floor. The office space is still in the works, but I wanted you to know how much we appreciate your professionalism and your crew’s work. One of the tidiest construction sites I’ve ever seen. Many thanks for your assistance on our project and for your hard work.”
Kathy Husser
Deputy Community Services Director - Library City of Tempe
“Looks gorgeous. Can’t wait to be across the lake and see everything! 🙂 Thanks again, everyone. It’s been a long time coming, and I know so much hard work went into this project. Special thanks to those of you who had to work longer days/nights to make this happen. Here’s to many more successful CIPs at TCA!”

“Gary and Nick of BGI are great at listening and addressing issues. Gary is wonderful at meeting the needs of the project and has a great personality! Their teams that were on site work quickly and as quiet as possible and if I stopped by with a question they were helpful and sincere. The project was finished on time as promised. ”

“I am writing to you on behalf of the Sheriff’s Office to say that I am extremely pleased and impressed with your company…..I think that there are several qualities that set your company apart from the others. Your attention to detail kept our punch list to a bare minimum. The quality of workmanship to make sure everything is done to its utmost and meets the approval of the customer. Your people are easy to work with and eager to go the extra mile to please the customer. Even when you’re put under some heavy security constraints. I think the one that really sets you apart is your attention to safety on the job. Whenever I was out a job site, they always had proper safety equipment, hard hats, glasses, gloves, whatever is needed. I believe that this is way you’re the cream of the crop. Once again, a job well done.”
Officer Charles Grimes
Project Coordinator Maricopa County Construction & Maintenance Division
“I just wanted to write a quick note to let you know that your team was great… in my past 9 years I have only run into 2 contractors who I’d use again, and you’re one of them. They got the work done, didn’t create problems, and I’m happy… Thanks again, looking forward to doing business with you in the future!”
Ben Bethel
Owner & General Manager | Clarendon Hotel & Spa
“This is just a little note on the fine outstanding job Gary did as the superintendent at the Pup Tents project. His constant presence and attention to detail has, in my opinion completed a building for the Sheriff’s Office that will be the most maintenance free building in the county. At any time of the day when I drove up to the job site, Gary was always totally focused on the project, yet stopped and took the time to answer any questions or concerns. There was no doubt as I watched Gary interact with his subcontractors, he was not going to accept inferior workmanship, and he was in charge of the project. After over 19 years with the Sheriff’s Office I have seen numerous projects completed only to have the contractor come back time after time to fix what should have been done right the first time. With an on-site project superintendent like Gary, I have little doubt issues like this will not arise. I want to thank you for the diligence and patience for this project … “

“I would like to take a moment to tell you how pleased I am with the cooler upgrade project at building #1601. The install looks great and the coolers look state of the art. Thanks; this is a project we can be proud of.
I am also very pleased about your superintendent. He is doing outstanding work, and everything was done in a timely and professional manner. Thanks for the Good Job.”

…“Best Projects judges were impressed with the coordination of airport operations with construction on the tight site, specifically access of manpower and materials, public safety, staging for construction, trash removal and parking. To mitigate possible issues, during preconstruction planning, general contractor Builders Guild developed a site logistics plan that showed construction access points, temporary security fencing, construction employee parking, material laydown locations, electrical and water utility locations, the construction office location and airport personnel traffic access to the airfield…”
