Central Courts
Elevators Modernization

When upgrading six 14-stop traction elevators in a busy courthouse, there is no room for error or downtime. BGI performed this complex modernization with precision and care. The work encompassed electrical and fire alarm system upgrades and included a three-year maintenance plan for a total of nine elevators.  To keep court operations running smoothly, only one elevator was out of service at a time. Power shutdowns happened late at night or on weekends, so courtrooms were not disrupted.

The project kicked off with a comprehensive elevator assessment in partnership with Maricopa County Facilities Management and rolled out in six carefully planned phases. With little space for storage, off-site parking and a “just-in-time” delivery approach was used. Night shifts kept the workflow invisible to the public.

Client Testimonial

“The Central Courts Elevator Modernization Project had the potential for many challenges, of which disturbing the Judges was my biggest concern. The deck was stacked against the contractor awarded this project with numerous other challenges that you would expect in a downtown Courts Facility with limited access, limited parking, strict security protocol, public safety, off-hours, a tired building and systems, no storage and etc. However, I was quickly convinced that I would be in good hands by the skill, integrity and dependability displayed by BGI. They seamless integrated into the Courts Building as if they were members of our Operations and Maintenance Team to modernize the elevators with only minor hick-ups. I commend them for an excellent job and would highly recommend them for complicated work in a sensitive facility.”
