PSHIA Terminal 3
Escalator Replacements

Replacing four massive escalators inside one of the nation’s busiest airports was no small task, especially when the work had to happen without disrupting a single passenger’s journey. That was the challenge BGI accepted at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport (PSHIA), Terminal 3.  The construction team orchestrated an eight-phase plan with “just-in-time” escalator deliveries from Germany and meticulous coordination across multiple aviation departments. Safety and flow were top priorities: passengers needed clear wayfinding, uninterrupted access, and absolute protection while construction teams performed complex rigging and hoisting right in the heart of an active terminal.

Thanks to innovative protocols, proactive communication, and a true spirit of partnership, BGI, VTX and the airport team delivered the project ahead of schedule and under budget all while maintaining 100% passenger safety and keeping daily airport operations running smoothly.
